  • You may cancel your registration up to one (1) hour prior to the start time by notifying us via email at spiritrisingdance@gmail.com. Your class fee will automatically be credited to your account and will remain available for use to be credited to a future class/event of your choosing.

Wellness and Safety

  • IMPORTANT:  All participants are required to sign a liability and media release waiver prior to attending any Spirit Rising programming, whether attending virtually or in person.  The waiver may be electronically signed here:  Spirit Rising Liability Waiver
  • Failure to sign a waiver prior to participation will result in cancellation of your registration for a particular class/event, with the amount paid credited back to your account for future use.
  • Spirit Rising strongly advises that all participants consult with their physician or medical provider prior to engaging in any class or event involving physical activity.  All participants of Spirit Rising's programming agree to assume full responsibility for any risks, injuries, or damages, known or unknown, which may incur as a result of participation.
  • Spirit Rising provides adaptive dance and wellness programming for people of all levels of ability.  We are committed to providing a safe environment for our participants and modifying dances/exercises to suit a variety of needs.  However, we recognize that each participant is unique and may require different accommodations, modifications, and adaptations to engage safely in class.  We encourage all participants to:
    • Listen to your body to prevent injury risks.  Do not push into pain territory, or ignore fatigue.  Take breaks when necessary, and modify all exercises to suit your needs.
    • Drink water and stay hydrated.
    • Take any medications as prescribed, and please bring and use any mobility aids that may assist your movement to and from class and during transitions (sit to stand, etc.).  Spirit Rising is unable to provide or recommend any mobility devices or aids for participants during classes and events.
    • Make sure you wear proper attire:  clothing that is comfortable to move in, and shoes that offer cushioning and stability while you move.  Avoid any clothing that may drag on the floor (fall risk) or hinder your ability to move easily while in class.
    • Pay attention to your surroundings:  whether in a virtual or in-person class, make sure you take note of the space you're moving in and stay aware of any potential hazards (hitting another dancer or object, tripping on a chair or other object around/behind you).
    • Warm-up and rest:  Even light to moderate exercise can feel taxing, depending on how you feel on a given day.  Take the time to warm up your body carefully and ease into movement.  Again, rest breaks are welcome:  you are encouraged to take them whenever necessary during class.  Be sure to cool down safely after class, and make sure your rest and sleep routines are optimal in order to keep your energy levels stable.
    • Ask Questions:  If you have a question or concern about material presented during a class or event, please do not hesitate to ask your teaching artist/presenter questions, especially as they relate to your health and safety during participation.  We want you to enjoy our classes and get as much out of them as possible, and your instructor is there to support you in as many ways as possible during your time as a participant.

Accessibility

Spirit Rising is committed to providing safe, inclusive environments for all participants attending our programs.  If there are additional accommodations that you require due to physical health, mental health, or a disability, or if you have additional questions and concerns, please email Candace at spiritrisingdance@gmail.com at least 3 days prior to your registered class or event.
